Syrah Chateau de Lancyre AOC Coteaux du Languedoc Pic Saint Loup


A black-skinned grape variety, it is grown mainly in the Rhone Valley and Languedoc-Roussillon.

In the production specifications for Pic Saint Loup, the red and rosé wines must be made from a minimum of 50% Syrah.
It is a variety accustomed to poor soils and a hot climate. It is very sensitive to wind, requiring suitable training methods – its branches must be tied up to avoid them breaking.
Syrah-based wines are intensely-coloured with wonderful aromatic complexity that is fruity (black olive), floral (violet) and spicy. Its intense, refined tannins impart excellent ageability.
Syrah produces highly expressive red wines and aromatic and fruity rosés.
